Science and education affairs
　　 There are more than 3,000 scientific and technological achievements in our district. Our district awarded the advanced unit in China in the development of technology. There are 6 institutions of higher education with 3,290 full-time teachers and 55,122 students. There are 18,866 students are studying in secondary specialized school. Every year, more than 20,000 graduates with different skills enter society from these institutions. We have 85 middle schools and primary schools, which have 3,938 teaching staff and 72,195 students. The number of children who take preschool education accounts 96% of the total in urban area while 94.6% in rural area. The proportion of primary school graduates continuing their study in junior secondary schools reached 99%. The universalization of senior secondary education has been launched with the net enrollment rate attained 95%.

Cultural affairs
　　 Our district has awarded a couple of prizes in the past, such as “City of Art and History” by the State Council in 1994, “City of Advanced Culture” in 1996 and the provincial demonstration area in health service. There are 285 thousand volumes of books in our new library, which covers the area of 2,960 square meters. The reading room covers an area of 3,800 square meters and owns 1,200 seats. The universaliztion of television’s coverage was as much as 100% and broadcast 99%.
　　 The sanitation has been improved. The district has been rewarded both of the national Advanced Sanitation County and provincial Advanced Sanitation County for three times. With the economic development, resident’s need for sanitation increases day by day. We have built 36 hospitals, 16 of which are county level or above, there are 3,050 beds available and the number of staff reaches 3,087. The medical equipment is getting more sophisticated while the doctors’ technology has improved, because they have launched a series of high-strength surgery. Polio has been eliminated, leprosy, typhoid, measles, encephalitis and other diseases has been effectively controlled in this district.

Sports
　　 After the issue of the state’s National Fitness and Health Program, the government then formulated implementation plans for the National Fitness and Health Program and for the National 121 project, (another national Health Project). A lot of mass sport activities have initiated here. Nearly 500 originations and enterprises have participated regularly the fitness activities. Almost 150,000 people in our district have taken part in one or two sports regularly. We have already hold 32 sport competitions in the district, with more than 20,000 participants. The sport delegations of our district have gotten good results in various competitions, which held by the Jiangxi Province or Ganzhou City. Moreover, we have provided a number of outstanding athletes for the national and international competition, winning honor for our country. In 1991 we were awarded by the Province government as the advance unit for its training the reserve athletes. We were praised by the Province twice as the advance unit for its conducting well in mass sport activities and praised by the County (City) three times as the advance unit of sport. We were named as “The Home of Sport” by the General Administration of Sport of China.

Traveling
　　 There are a lot of natural and cultural landscapes, including 84 tourist spots and 230 scenic spots, historical sites, and memorials, especially famous with the rich cultural heritages of the Song dynasty (960-1279 AD). The Zhanggong District is called “The Museum of Song dynasty”. The city of Ganzhou is called as the birthplace of The Culture of City Bajing( Eight Top Scenic Spots in the City). These top scenic spots include Bajingtai, Yugutai, the Ancient City Wall of Song dynasty which is so far the best protected wall of Song Dynasty, Fushougou, the Tongtian Rock praised as “the first grotto in the South of China”, Ciyun Tower of Song dynasty which is the oldest in China identified by the archaeologists with the clear evidence of its exist, the ruins of Wen Temple—the ancient Chinese school best in the County, and the ruins of Qiliyao which is one of the four famous Grotto of Southern China of Song Dynasty. Apart from these, there are the residential buildings with typical flavor of the Hakkas, the home of The Marshal Ye Jianying and the home of Jiang Jingguo, the former President of KMT, and so on.
